Riders must be 60 or older and able to enter and exit a vehicle independently. Volunteers do not provide physical assistance or handle wheelchairs. Ride availability will depend on the number of volunteers.
To participate, volunteers must pass a New York state Department of Motor Vehicles check for infractions, complete a two-hour Zoom training provided by Lifespan, and undergo a criminal background check. Those interested in volunteering can call (585) 498-4040 or email givealift@lifespan-roch.org.
The program launched with an event Feb. 14 at Plymouth Gardens, 1400 S. Plymouth Ave.
